It used to be the case that only those who could afford to pay the high price were able to buy painted kitchens. They were traditional, good quality and they looked fantastic.

Well, times are changing and painted kitchens are well and truly in! They are still good quality and they still look fantastic but the price tag has been significantly lowered!

In the past, these doors were always made of solid wood and then hand-painted, which all added to the hefty price tag. Nowadays however, there are some fantastic quality mdf doors which are covered in a vinyl wrap with a wood grain effect and painted in a factory. To be honest, you would find it hard to tell the difference in many cases.

So what is the price difference?

Well, we worked it out with a couple of examples that we use regularly for our kitchens. It turns out that a solid wood painted door would cost DOUBLE the price of an mdf, vinyl-wrapped alternative.

In a time where we are nationally having to think a lot more about how we spend our money, it’s great to know that we can have a new kitchen at a much lower cost and that it will still look brilliant.

The other benefit of a vinyl-wrapped painted door is that it will not shrink, swell or split, like a wood door may. It would also be possible to re-paint the doors if you wanted to update the look of your kitchen.

With bespoke and personalised trends clearly on the rise, being able to choose any colour kitchen units is a massive advantage. With all painted doors, whether solid wood or vinyl-wrapped, the possibilities are endless. You can co-ordinate your dining area with your kitchen doors, match your accessories to your units or how about having an island with units in a completely different colour (see below).

With personalisation a massive trend, we believe painted kitchens are the way forward if you want to make your room completely unique.
