Our Kitchen Design Process – 6 Steps to Your Perfect Kitchen

For 30 years we have designed and installed hundreds of kitchens and using this experience, we have developed a 6 step kitchen design process which we believe will make the fulfilment of your kitchen dream as simple and stress-free as possible. A new kitchen is a major investment and will usually only need replacing every 15-20 years. This may mean that you only change your kitchen once or twice in your whole life! For this reason, we feel that the design of a kitchen is a very important. No two kitchens or customers are the same, so we aim to make your kitchen as individual as you would like it to be.

1. EMAIL OR CALL ME

Use the “Contact Us” link on the website or call me on 01722 321447 and leave a voicemail if I don’t answer the phone. In either case please give your name and a contact number and I will call you at the earliest opportunity.

2. Book a home Consultation

I will arrange a convenient time to visit you at home where we can have a detailed discussion about your priorities and aspirations for your new kitchen including the budget you are working to. I will bring brochures with me to help in making the decision about what make and model to draw and quote the kitchen in. At this time I will also take some detailed measurements of the room taking into account any structural changes or alterations you are thinking of making. This appointment can take from 1 to 2 hours.

3. Design and Plan

Having spent some time discussing designs, colours and taking measurements I will work on planning out your Kitchen. I use a CAD design package specifically designed for kitchens so you can see what the finished design will look like from all angles. This usually takes 7 – 10 days

4. PRESENTATION

When I am happy that the design meets the brief we agreed at our initial meeting I will arrange a return visit when I will bring a laptop and screen with me. We will go through the design and quote together. I firmly believe that good kitchen design is a collaboration between the client and designer so I will encourage you to ask for any alterations you feel are needed. Most of these I will be able to do on the spot, others might take too long to do at the time and will be done later at home.

Once we have agreed on the final design I will then prepare a final quotation for you where will show you clearly the cost of the Kitchen Furniture you have chosen, appliances and the estimated costs incurred with any additional work you would like us to undertake for you, fitting, tiling etc.

5. Bespoke Order and Manufacture

Once you have agreed the design and final quotation I will prepare a contract for you which will set all of your terms and conditions. Your dream Kitchen will be checked and ordered. Installation dates will be discussed and agreed.  As every kitchen is made to order we will require a deposit from you to secure its manufacture. Delivery times vary depending on the supplier and it can take from 3 to 10 weeks.

6. Installation

Our team of fitters are very experienced and are trusted by us and our previous clients. They will come fully equipped with the right tools for the job. Once on site they will check over the kitchen as they unpack to check for any damage and any issues will be fed back to us so we can rectify this for you. Having a new kitchen fitted can be an upheaval as the kitchen is such a well used room in the home, our fitters will try to minimise mess and ensure any essential services are fitted in a timely manner to minimise disruption.

If you have your own kitchen fitter you prefer to use we are happy to supply the kitchen and have it delivered to you so your trades person can manage the installation themselves.
